The lake is an alternative to the Steinhuder Meer, if it is closed for bird protection. Whilst being much smaller, it still offers free parking as well as grass and sandy areas to launch from. Southwersterly Wind blows most constantly. In the summer there’s actually too much traffic with swimmers and sunbathers although with a day ticket it’s theoretically possible to windsurf. In winter, no ticket is needed. Kiting is not allowed year-round.
