Margaret River

Margaret River is Western Australia’s big wave forge. The south-west corner of the continent juts out into the ocean like an anvil onto which any swell from the Roaring Forties, Furious Fifties and Indian Ocean is sure to strike. And if the southerly sea breeze also blows between October and March, it stokes a fire that lights up the glorious breaks. The local artisans craft exquisite work from this red-hot furnace... When people say Margaret River, they usually mean the little seaside village of Prevelly where the main action occurs. But with less settled weather than Perth, the alternatives can offer opportunities in other wind directions too.
