Vancouver Island

Nestled between Washington State and British Columbia on Canada’s Pacific coast is a ruggedly beautiful sub-arctic rainforest that’s relatively untapped by outsiders. Stretching 290 miles long and 80 miles across Vancouver Island is real ‘big country’ – big trees, big bears, big mountains, big winds and big waves… The booming surf scene centred around the communities of Tofino and Jordan River are finding that conditions are often too windy to surf, hence kiters and windsurfers are just beginning to exploit the region’s true potential.
