Praia do Amado, south of the headland, is often sheltered in light northerly wind. This makes an otherwise pretty average beach-break a favourite for surfers and swimmers. If the Nortada blows strong enough cross-on north-westerly in winter, it can get interesting. You can also ride low-pressure south-westerlies here, although conditions are only good on the first day before the huge break gets far too hectic.
