Calblanque, Las Cañas

Costa Cálida & Mar Menor

Auszug aus dem KITE AND WINDSURFING GUIDE:

This region’s two best wave venues are pretty well tucked away next to salt-pans in the Calblanque nature reserve. Westerly Poniente and south-westerly Leveche offer equally rewarding kiting and windsurfing at the large 'Playa Negrete'. In Poniente, the waves breaking powerfully over a sandbar can sometimes hit 3m. But the barrels, current and rocky shore are purely for experts. It gets Hawaiian for windsurfers next-door at 'Playa Las Cañas' when strong north-easterly Levante blows cross-off. Classy, crystal-clear waves then roll onto the beach, not as big as in Poniente, but enough for a few bottom turns. There are loads of sunbathers in summer and entry restrictions to the nature reserve, but fortunately the best conditions come out of season. The water is the cleanest in the area, and even if it's not windy these wild beaches are worth a visit. Sadly, you do see the occasional shards of car windscreens in the car-parks.
