Can Martinet

Costa Brava & Barcelona

Auszug aus dem KITE AND WINDSURFING GUIDE:

Can Martinet is a freeride paradise for intermediates and anyone who just enjoys getting on the water in great atmosphere. It's one of three official summer kite zones of Sant Pere, a long, sandy beach of about seven kilometres. With no tides nor currents the conditions are "lakelike" safe with bump 'n' jump chop further out. The sea breeze reaches 14 to 18 knots on a hot July afternoon for about four to five hours. For semi-deserted beaches and a variety of sea breezes and sourtherly winds up to 5-6 Bft., visit in April/May or September/October. Usually you'll ride your 8 to 12 metre kites, bring (or rent) a 14m and you'll kite every day.
Summer temperatures get up to 30-35Cº/86-95Fº and water temps then stay are around 20Cº/68ºF. During spring and autumn highs are usually in the twenties with an avarage of 15Cº/60Fº. In the water you'll then appreciate a springsuit to protect from the wind chill whilst on land you'll like a hoody or jacket at night.
There's a kite school located a bit to the right of the spot called 'Kiteexperience' where you can take lessons and rent or buy equipment. Only downside: kite zone access costs €6 per day or €70 for the season, either from the city or straight from the school.
