Coccia di Morto

Roma & Lazio

Auszug aus dem KITE AND WINDSURFING GUIDE:

At 'Fiumicino’, follow the northernmost branch of the river to the end of the road, then take a right to head north all the way to the beach. “Coccia” is Roman slang for 'skull' – the town’s named after the corpses that washed up here, having been thrown into the River Tiber in Rome. Even today the beach isn’t very clean, but it scores some magnificent waves, especially in winter northerlies. South-easterly Scirocco and south-westerly Libeccio stoke up some giants too. In strong winds there’s a powerful current to contend with. You can park right on the beach, which is a mixture of sand and rock. As at 'Focene South', kiting is banned so close to the airport.
