Isla Cristina

Isla Cristina and 'Punta Umbria' are the region’s two most popular breaks – this one's more likely to offer frontside conditions though. Waves break on a sandbar, biggest and cleanest at mid-tide. The best wind direction is again south-westerly, when the waves run pretty clean downwind of the jetties. A northerly will blow all day (whereas it drops off in the afternoon elsewhere) but it’s a bit gusty. Otherwise, the lagoon is perfect for kiting at high tide. It's a very touristy area and the promenade apartments aren’t too pretty, although the backdrop of salt-pans and nature reserves offers a much better view.
