Latina, Foce Verde

Latina is known as a meteorological boundary – south of here the weather is often completely different to Rome. Latina Bay starts at Foce Verde, stretches past Lido di Latina and ends at the coast-road in Capo Portiere. From west to east, there are three launch options: 'Foce Verde’, 'Alta Marea’ and 'Banana Beach’. In strong low-pressure west-north-westerly wind and hefty windswell, Foce Verde is wonderful . maybe even better than 'Anzio'? If the wind veers north-westerly, you only have to drive a few miles south towards 'Capo Portiere’ to find cross-shore conditions again. Foce Verde has a few breakwaters, but there are none further south. In summer, a westerly thermal can also develop in Latina Bay. South-easterly Scirocco blows a bit weaker around here, and often dies off towards the afternoon.
