Praia da Rocha

This famous rocky beach is a tourist hotspot in summer. The wind arrives later than 'Praia de Alvor' and not as strong, but it’s good for race training in north to north-westerlies. Kiting’s out of the question with so many beachgoers. It’s all change in winter when stormy weather sends the sunseekers packing and allows the thrillseekers their day at one of the Algarve's finest breaks. Best in south-easterly Levante as a breakwater arranges the waves – south-westerly is sailable too, but pretty messy. Currents increase with wave size.
