Salto di Fondi

The coast south of the city of Fondi is known for its afternoon westerly thermals from spring to autumn. When there’s high-pressure over the area, wind’s virtually guaranteed! Windsurfers and kiters ride from adjacent launches – both are reached by driving the Pontina to 'Terracina’ and following signs to 'Sperlonga’. Keep to the right after the tunnel until you hit the coast-road. The windsurf spot is at the petrol station, where stairs lead down to the water – locals simply call it 'Esso’. Kiters drive 1km further to 'Sant'Anastasia', which offers more room. The kite beach is on the right, opposite a nice campsite.
