Carnota, Laguna

Rías Baixas, Galicia

Auszug aus dem KITE AND WINDSURFING GUIDE:

Sunny summer weather accelerates north to north-easterly winds for either easy-going sessions on chop or a clean beach-break, depending on swell. The waves are usually mid-sized, only reaching 3m during winter low-pressure when getting out is somewhere between really tough and impossible. In southerly and northerly winds the best launch is at the rivermouth, whereas the southern end of this sickle-shaped beach is best in south-west or north-easterly. The waves aren’t as good at high tide, when the standing-depth 'Laguna' forms at the northern end of the beach. Unfortunately kiting has been banned from the lagoon (and actually from some parts of the beach as well) for bird protection. Discussions are going on and until final regulations will be in place at least the lagoon should be avoided. Measuring 6km, this gorgeous, secluded sandy beach is the longest in Galicia.
