The closer you get to the major port of Civitavecchia, the more industrial the atmosphere becomes. “Centrale” refers to the gigantic power station towering over this launch – it’s not exactly easy to find, but the huge red-&-white chimney is a useful landmark. Stay right of the power station and head to the coast, then down a gravel track along the seafront. Numerous stones and rocks mean Centrale is demanding even for windsurfers; don’t even think about kiting here. Like 'San Agostino', this is also south-easterly Scirocco territory – complete with fantastic waves on a good day.
