Cobbles - Cape Recife Lighthouse

South Africa

Auszug aus dem KITE AND WINDSURFING GUIDE:

Nelson Mandela Bay most southern tip know as the Cape Recife offers some magical spots. It has an active lighthouse that has been warning sea captains off Thunderbolt Reef since 1851.
To the west there are a couple of unspoiled and beautiful beaches starting with Secrets, Boilers, Noncom (aka Padies) then Virgin Bay a very small and rough environment home to a small seal colony so expect to be around some sharks in the water.
Once around the corner into the bay the conditions become amazing. 3 to 6 feet sets rolling gently with flat sections in between the waves. Cobbles is a right reef break which runs near the smaller channel marker. The spot is best on high tide as a shallow reef bottom will pop out at you near low tide. You can always find some exiting channels if it becomes to rocky for you. The best flat water conditions are in front of Pine Lodge Resort from which you can also purchase the permit to get into the reserve.
