Zandvoort

One of the most famous Dutch spots, and a fitting finale to a surf trip through Noord Holland. Three sandbar belts allow the waves to repeatedly reform at a trio of official kite and windsurf zones. The most popular is at 'The Spot' beach club just north of town, beyond which 'Riche's Beach Club' is also buzzing – it stays open in winter too, complete with a fireplace! The third, least used launch is in front of the sailing club to the south where you'll find the cheapest parking – everything near the beach in town is really expensive and there are height restrictions. Aside from its waves, Zandvoort is known for its beach culture and nightlife during summer, even if the paint is a bit chipped on the promenade. The Formula 1 racetrack in the dunes still exists, although the verve and panache left with the Grand Prix.
